Hi my name is Michelle and I work for AGI Australasia.
Recently I took two weeks leave to head to the South Island where I planned to become a tourist in my own back yard.
My plan was to drive from Auckland to Wellington, ferry into Picton and then head across to Nelson and down the west coast and then come back up the East coast
I achieved and experienced so much in the two weeks off. Firstly I learnt about the engine in my car as I had a problem in Nelson (Spooner’s hill) when I was heading to the west coast, when all of a sudden oil had gotten into the turbo and it had to be towed all the way back to the mechanic in Nelson.
Secondly on my travels I achieved: 15000ft Skydive, Arc canyon swing, snowboarding 134m bungee jump and Hiking. I spent most of my time in beautiful Queenstown where I spent 6 nights. I even caught a bus and did the Milford Sounds.
I wore my Targhee’s on the Franz Josef Glacier, Milford sounds and also when I did a little off road in my car and ended up in a paddock with amazing views looking over the Tekapo Lakes.

Whilst I was walking to the glacier, I wanted to try out my Keen Targhee Mid’s. Along the way there were streams of water where people would hop from stone to stone to get across to the other side. I thought “this
is a perfect time to show off what these Keen’s can do” so as the people were hopping across the stones, I casually walked through the water with my waterproof shoes with a grin. I even carried my friend on my back to the other side of the stream just to test the shoes. I was highly impressed to come out with dry socks.
I was very lucky to have such great weather on my trip. I definitely give my travel in the south island a 10/10. (actually minus one 9/10 due to the car issue’s)
Cheers
Michelle
